Our Visit to al-Ula and Mada'in Saleh

It has been 4 years now that I'm living in Jeddah. Never thought of visiting such a place.
"Mada'in Saleh" near to al-Ula, in northwestern of Saudi Arabia, (380 Km north of Medina).

On the 29th of October, 2012, My husband and I decided to visit "Mada'in Saleh". The trip was supposed to take us about 8 hours driving from Jeddah. So it was impossible to visit the place and go back in the same day. al-Ula was the nearest city to Madain Saleh. After some researches, we decided to make our reservation in al-Ula Arac Resort.

The Gate, Entrance to Madain Saleh and the Old Railway Station

Mada'in Saleh also called Al-Hijr or Hegra, is a pre-Islamic archaeological site located in the Al-Ula sector, within the Al Madinah Region of Saudi Arabia. A majority of the vestiges date from the Nabatean kingdom (1st century CE). The site constitutes the kingdom's southernmost and largest settlement after Petra, its capital. On the same site, you can visit the Old Railway Station. The railway was constructed (1901– 08) on the orders of Ottoman sultan Abdul Hamid II to link Damascus and Jerusalem in the north-west with Medina and Mecca, hence facilitating the pilgrimage journey.

Then, We visited Al Ula Museum
